Kimbala Country Escape

Kimbala is a functioning, authentic cattle property 2 hours north of Brisbane or west of the Sunshine Coast.

The property has been in Simone’s family since 1906.

She grew up here. Now she opens the Stockman’s House so others can experience the space, the calm, and the stories this land holds.

You might see Simone out in the paddocks, or feeding her cattle. If you’re curious, you can join in. Or just watch from the fence with a cuppa.

You’ll likely see horses, wallabies, deer, kangaroos, lizards and plenty of birds.
If you are very lucky you might spot a koala sitting in a tree. Always cows – and depending on the time of year, the cutest baby calves.

The days are yours to do as you wish. Take a book and picnic and explore the paddocks. Set up under the shade of a tree on the top of a hill with uninterrupted 360 views. Your senses will be awakend with the landscape, varieties of birds and animals , the sights, sounds and smells the bush has to offer - all for your enjoyment.

One day take some time and visit Jimna, an old timber town 15 mins away. Many of the original buildings are still there - follow the historical map and learn the history. On a weekend call into Jimna Base Camp, Pete makes the best coffee and homemade prize winning scones. (Tell him Simone sent you)
Maybe continue on and have lunch in Kilcoy - The Exchange Hotel has a great food offer and on a wall you'll see some photos of Simone's grandfather riding the paddocks and another of her great uncle.
You'll need another day to explore Kimbala further or revisit that perfect little spot by the creek.

There's so much 'nothing' you still need to do :
lie in the hammock and finish the book
relax in the baths, drinks and nibbles within reach, as you soak up the view and nature at its finest.

Then there's the nights - Dinner cooked on the bbq or in the smoker for a roast or pizza. Sitting by the fire, where do you look? Mesmerised by the flames of the 'bush tellie' or looking up at the millions of stars, the Milky Way or spotting satellites and falling stars. There's no light pollution out here.
